Stagnant Equilibrium

Stagnant Equilibrium, n.

There are some points in a relationship wherein you can never try to go higher or lower. Whenever you try to do something more, like to develop deep feelings and invest a lot more, you just become like a messed up ball of string. You don’t even know if the strings are actually tied properly. You just know that there are a lot of knots and winded up strings and you don’t even know how to fix them. However, when you try to suddenly do anything less, you cut up the whole ball of strings. It’s like you cut up everything, and everything will fall into pieces. Even your innocent little friendship would seem like it never existed.

So you just stay there, in your stagnant state. You just try to keep up whatever’s going on, making sure you don’t do anything more or anything less. You know, an equilibrium, even though if it is stagnant, is not always steady.
